Our music detective training is designed for staff or volunteers from community organisations. 


Befrienders

  • Cost: £350 + trainer travel
  • Who should attend? Befrienders and volunteer co-ordinators
  • Course duration: Half a day
  • Price per head equivalent: £22 (based on a maximum of 16 attending)

By the end of this session you will:

  • Understand how music can be a powerful tool for people living with dementia
  • Know the benefits of using Playlist for Life as a befriender
  • Know how to use a personal playlist as a stand-alone activity, as well as to help with other activities
  • Have learned and practiced using Music Detective skills
  • Have considered different ways personal music can be used to meet the needs of the individual you are working with
  • Have thought of obstacles you might face and how to overcome them

Building a Playlist Community Package

  • Cost: £550 + trainer travel
  • Who should attend? Anyone interested in running PfL activities in their communities
  • Price per head equivalent: No equivalent price, as no upper limit to numbers that can attend the information day

This is a package of support designed to help you introduce Playlist for Life into your wider community. It starts with a meeting to help plan a launch event that will involve all the individuals and organisations you think would like to start using Playlist for Life.

At this first meeting we will discuss who you want to invite, potential sources of funding and an action plan to promote the event.

We will return to deliver the launch event on the date you have set. The launch event will help you identify a Playlist for Life Help Point host. The Help Point will be provided with a Help Point Starter Pack. We will provide on-going support both before and after the launch event.

  • Course duration: Half a day
  • Price per head equivalent: £22 (based on a maximum of 16 attending)

By the end of this session you will:

  • Understand what dementia is and how it can impact daily life
  • Learn tips for communicating effectively with a person living with dementia
  • Know why music is special and how best to use it to manage daily life
  • Have built a playlist from scratch using Music Detective skills
